Mike Perkins- perksii@yahoo.com
Mike Perkins comes to the So Cal Titans from the North American Hockey League (NAHL) where he was the Head Coach for the Wichita Falls Wildcats. Perkins coached for five years in Wichita Falls for the Wildcats and formerly the Wichita Falls Rustlers who played in both the NAHL and the America West Hockey League (AWHL). Prior to that, Perkins was the Assistant Coach of the Butte Irish of the AWHL, the Head Coach of the Northwest Wisconsin Knights of the Minnesota Junior Hockey League (MJHL) and Assistant Coach/Head JV Coach at Spooner High School in Northern Wisconsin. Perkins was part of two "Coach of the Year" awards in the AWHL as Head Coach Brian Meisner was recognized and awarded this honor by his peers. The first season (2001-2002) in Wichita Falls, the Rustlers won the South Division, led the America West Hockey League in attendance averaging 5500 fans a night, set a record in junior hockey for expansion teams with 43 wins and was awarded the "Organization of the Year".
Mike, a graduate of the Hill-Murray School in St. Paul, Minnesota lettered in hockey and football in his prep days. Perkins then attended the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota where as a player he skated under the tutelage of former Hobey Baker Award Winner and Chicago Blackhawk, Bill Watson. As a collegiate player, Perkins was a Small College All-American nominee. Perkins also played Division I semi-pro hockey for HK Vojvoidina in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia.
Mike is known as a hard working coach who in seven years of coaching junior hockey has moved over seventy players on to college hockey and over fifteen of those have earned scholarships to Division I schools across the country. Perkins' contacts at the professional, collegiate and junior levels will be a great asset to his players to help them achieve their goals and dreams.
Mike is a big believer in skill development, especially for the younger players and has been conducting power skating clinics and hockey lesson since joining the staff two seasons ago.
Mike is married and has three children.
